Bis der kauzige Nachbar Tristan Trent (Russell Brand) auftaucht, der den Sandelfen gerne ganz für sich haben würde.
The newly in love couple Alice (Paula Patton) and David (Matthew Goode) decide to weld their two children together into a patchwork family with the help of a family holiday together on the beach of 'Cornwall', which they of course find quite stupid. But when the four kids meet a magical - and rather nagging - sand elf named 'Psammead' on the local beach, who has the power to grant their every wish, the trip turns into a truly dreamy holiday. Until the odd neighbor Tristan Trent (Russell Brand) appears, who would like to have the Sand Elf all to himself.
